PIT-workshop held at Siem Reap

.

On 9th Saturday, December, 2006, Personal Information Technology workshop has been held at BBU, Siem Reap branch, 2 different sessions, one in the morning and another one was in the evening.

In each session, there were around 200 audiences from varied faculties, such as IT, English, Management,… It was another successful workshop progressed by City Link and Cambodia Bloggers cooperate with Build Bright University. We’re very happy to see that many students there now know about blog and are interested in the workshop. Sooner or later, we hopefully waiting to see more and more blog by Cambodians.

Along with this, PIT-Workshop has also been held at 10 Makara High school at Siem Reap Province as well. Let me express “A WOW!” cuz that high school is much more modern than the ones in Phnom Penh. The lab there is very great, one room occupied with about 26 laptops accessed to internet for student, another one there is about 40 new and run-well desktops.

It was rather easy to generate interest to this year's study trip to Siem Reap. The powerful allure of Angkor Wat was publicity enough. What needed more thought, however, was to craft together a variety of inputs providing snippets into contemporary Cambodian society and culture in a limited space of time. For the rest of the travel itinerary, I relied on the curiosity and energy of the travelers themselves to ferret out stories consonant with their own interests.

Siem Reap is an excellent place to buy Cambodian souvenirs, silks, handicrafts, textiles and contemporary art. Only Phnom Penh offers a comparable selection. In addition to the tradition shopping venues, over the last few of years there has been an explosion of new shops, galleries and boutiques, offering a varied selection of quality handicrafts and silks as well as original artistic creations in a variety of media.

The 3rd Asian NGO Leaders’ Dialogue will be held on February 6 - 10, 2006 in Siem Reap, Cambodia. It hopes to provide venue for NGO leaders to reflect upon the actions, gains and challenges undertaken by civil society leaders on globalization issues particularly on the recently concluded WTO MC6 in Hongkong.

Siem Reap today, being a popular tourist destination, has a large number of hotels and restaurants. Most smaller establishments are concentrated around the Old Market area, while more expensive hotels are located between Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport and the town along National Road 6. There are a variety of mid-range hotels and restaurants along Sivatha, and budget to mid-range hotels in the Phsar Leu area.
